Mr. John Davies

Mr. John Davies joined DARPA in February 2020 as a program manager in the Microsystems Technology Office (MTO). His research interests include adaptive radio frequency (RF) systems, artificial intelligence, real-time signal processing, configurable computing, and electronic warfare (EW).

Prior to joining DARPA, Davies was a branch director and technical fellow with the Leidos Innovation Center. While at Leidos, he oversaw a portfolio of programs that applied artificial intelligence to real-time RF systems. This included development of a cognitive EW system to characterize and respond to unknown radars in real-time. The program twice won Leidos' annual Achievement Award for Excellence in Engineering. Prior to Leidos, Davies was a technical development manager for BAE Systems where he led multiple R&D efforts focused on cognitive communications, RF sensing, and real-time signal processing. Earlier in his career, he designed digital and RF circuits for commercial wireless applications for multiple startup companies.

Davies earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech where his graduate work addressed software-defined radio applications for configurable computing architectures.
